AC Milan Boss Refuses to Quit amidst Poor Form

Marco Giampaolo has been subjected to intense pressure at AC Milan after overseeing the club’s worst beginning to a new campaign in eight decades. However, the 52-year-old has refused to quit from his role claiming that he still is very confident about overcoming the poor start. AC Milan have suffered a defeat in four out of the six league matches already.Giampaolo was the replacement for Gennaro Gattuso, who was relieved of his role only in June. Milan fell to a 3-1 loss against Fiorentina during the weekend and this was the third successive defeat for the team.

This has increased speculation that Milan are preparing for a managerial change so much so that Arsene Wenger that has been linked with the job. Wenger has been out of the dugout for quite a while since leaving his post as the Arsenal boss, but it is believed that will be ready to take up the challenge. However, the ex-Sampdoria boss remains adamant that he will not quit and that he can overturn the fortunes of the team. It is highly unlikely that Milan will offer any more time especially if the team suffer a defeat against Genoa this weekend.

Giampaolo Happy to Get First Win As Milan Manager

AC Milan were able to get the first win of the campaign after beating Brescia 1-0 on Saturday. This victory provided huge relief for manager Marco Giampaolo, who has been brought in as the replacement for Gennaro Gattuso. The 52-year-old has a contract with Milan until 2021 and he has largely been able to achieve success with Sampdoria in recent times. However, the start to his Milan career has not been so great with the club losing 1-0 against Udinese in the first game of the season. A major shock from the game was the inability to get even a single shot on target throughout the 90 minutes.

However, Hakan Calhanoglu was able to come up with the breakthrough after just 12 minutes into the game againstBrescia. This early goal was very decisive in a game that did not have too many opportunities for both teams. After the match,Giampaolo admitted that the team was still a work in progress. A major surprise for fans and pundits was the absence of Krzysztof Piatek from the starting lineup. The 24-year-old was dropped in favour of Andre Silva as there were a couple of changes to the team that lost against Udinese. Milan were grateful to see former striker Mario Balotelli turn up for Brescia due to suspension.
