Italian giants AC Milan have turned their attention to Italy national team player Berardi with deals for Chelsea attacker Hakim Ziyech and Atalanta forward Josip Ilicicunlikely this summer.

Berardi was part of the Italy squad that won the Euro 2020 tournament this summer. Italy won their second titlein the history of the competition by beating England on penalties in the final. The aforementioned report said that seven-time European champions Milan are now focused on trying to do a deal for Berardi.

Milan were keen on signing Slovenian international Ilicic from Italian Serie A rivals Atalantaearlier this summer but the player is now set to stay. For Moroccan international Ziyech, his shoulder injury makes a possible deal for him unlikely.

Chelsea attacker Ziyech sustained the shoulder injury shortly after he opened the scoring against Villarreal in the European Super Cup last week. He scored the opening goal of the game in the first half before the Spanish La Liga team equalisedin the second half through Spanish international Gerard Moreno.

In the absence of other attacking targets, AC Milan have switched focus to Berardi. Milan boss Stefano Pioli wants a new right winger and Berardi could be the man as he seems ready to make the step up to a big team.

Milan are eyeing a loan transfer for Berardi with the option to buy. According to the publication from Calciomercato, Milan are ready to pay €5m as a loan fee with the option to make it permanent for €25m. Sassuolo are not keen to do a loan deal for Berardi with the Italian team holding out for a guaranteed fee of €35m.
