Luciano Spalletti has faith on Edin Dzeko

Luciano Spalletti says that he will retain his faith in striker Edin Dzeko despite his poor goal return this season.

The former Manchester City striker has been playing with the Italian outfit since the summer. In his first season in Italian football,Dzeko has come up with nine goals in 34 appearances. Thankfully, Roma have been able to get goals from other sources. The club are third in the table and they are providing realistic competition to the likes of Juventus and Napoli. The title may be a little away from the grasp after falling 10 points behind leaders Juventus, but it will still be seen as a successful campaign if the club qualify for the Champions League.

Dzeko recently came off the bench in the league match against Inter Milan. He had a great opportunity to win the game, but a scuffed shot meant that both teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw. The Bosnia international has failed to capitalise on a great moment, butDzeko failed to criticise the 30-year-old. He says that he still has plenty of faith in the forward since he will be a useful player to the club going forward. Ivan Perisic scored early for Inter and Roma had to wait for Nainggolan’s late effort in the 84th minute to get back into the game.

“When we push forward and go on the attack anything can happen. Dzeko needs to find a way to put all his weight and all his determination into certain situations. It’s strange what happens to him sometimes but he really does have everything a top striker needs. We’ll keep faith in him because he’s a useful player for us to have around. We can say it was a fair result, although after we levelled the scores we perhaps deserved a bit more given how we played,” said Spalletti.
