AC Milan were able to get the first win of the campaign after beating Brescia 1-0 on Saturday. This victory provided huge relief for manager Marco Giampaolo, who has been brought in as the replacement for Gennaro Gattuso. The 52-year-old has a contract with Milan until 2021 and he has largely been able to achieve success with Sampdoria in recent times. However, the start to his Milan career has not been so great with the club losing 1-0 against Udinese in the first game of the season. A major shock from the game was the inability to get even a single shot on target throughout the 90 minutes.
“We have a lot of work to do.We did some things well and didn’t take too many risks, although we lost control at a certain point in the match. We need to work together, that is what is missing, we are still settling in,”said Giampaolo after the game. Milan head into the international break and a return to league action will see them take on Hellas Verona away from home. This will be followed by the Milan derby when an intense clash is expected at the San Siro.
