Gennaro Gattuso Claims Milan Were Never in Crisis after Chievo Win

AC Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso claims that his side was definitely not in a crisis after claiming a 3-1 victory over Chievo during the weekend. Milan came into the game after having picked up only two wins from the first six games of the campaign. However, they were able to claim a 3-0 lead in the game thanks to goals from Gonzalo Higuain and Giacomo Bonaventura. However, Chievo did grab a consolation goal and it prevented a clean sheet for Milan. Still,Gattuso was extremely happy with the performance and claims that Milan had never really been in a crisis as the media had led people to believe.

Despite talk about a crisis, Milan are just three points behind Napoli who have been one of the top teams in the Italian Serie A over the last couple of seasons. It is also noteworthy that Milan have been able to achieve this points even whilst still focusing on the Europa League games. The seven time European champions came on the back of a win over Olympiakos in the recent Europa League match. Even though Milan came up with three goals in the match,Gattuso has claimed that his players should try and pick out Higuain more often in the game as the on-loan forward has the ability to get his team out of trouble.

AC Milan boss reveals Andre Silva wants to leave club at all costs

AC Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso has revealed that Portuguese striker Andre Silva wanted to leave the club at all costs during the summer. The 22-year-old joined the Rossoneri from Porto amid much fanfare last year but the move failed to work for him as he managed just two goals from 24 league appearances.

As a result, Silva was offered the opportunity to head to Sevilla on a season-long loan with the option to buy this summer but the move has already been criticised by a section of the supporters after witnessing the Portuguese score a hat-trick for the Spanish club during his maiden La Liga game.

Lucas Biglia looking to make strong impact with AC Milan next season

Argentine midfielder Lucas Biglia has said that he is looking forward to a better season with AC Milan following an average debut campaign with the Rossoneri. The 32-year-old struggled to make a notable impact during the course of the 2017/18 season but he is keen to amends by helping the side to a Champions League finish this term.

Speaking to the club’s official website, he said: “During the holidays I had the chance to recover, the pain has gone. I’m not at 100 per cent but I’m in good shape to start training. I’m happy with how they [rest of the team] are working and I hope to be back in the fold as soon as possible and play a great season which is what we want. My goal is pretty clear, is to make it into the Champions League, that’s the first objective. Milan always need to aim higher, like winning the league. It’s not easy as the other contenders are even stronger, but we will give it our all.”

Alen Halilovic ready to shine for AC Milan

Croatian midfielder Alen Halilovic has revealed his ambition to make a mark with AC Milan after joining them on a free transfer from Hamburg. Speaking in a press conference, Halilovic admitted that he could not quite to his ‘wonderkid’ expectations during his time with Barcelona but he comes to the Rossoneri after gaining the experience of playing nearly 100 matches across Europe, he said: “I was very young two years ago. I went to Barcelona when I was 19. It’s hard when you’re young and don’t get the chance to play. Now at 22 and having made more than 90 appearances in the biggest leagues in the world I thought it was the right time to take a further step.”

Manchester United weighing up move for AC Milan defender

Manchester United are reportedly lining up an approach to sign AC Milan defender Leonardo Bonucci amid the financial concerns at the Serie A club. The Italy international re-joined the Rossoneri from Juventus last summer and he was a regular for them during the 2017/18 season as they finished sixth in the league standings.

Since then, the Rossoneri have been banned for their Europa League campaign after failing to meet the Financial Fair Play requirements and they are now expected to recoup another £45m before the transfer deadline or else they could face further sanctions from the decision-making committee related to Fair Play.

Ricardo Rodriguez’s agent dismisses AC Milan exit claim

The representative of Ricardo Rodriguez has firmly dismissed the ongoing speculation, which has linked the Switzerland international with a summer exit. The left back only arrived at the Rossoneri from Wolfsburg last summer but there have been suggestions that he could be offloaded to compensate for the Financial Fair Play regulations.

However, his agent Gianluca Di Domenico has now dismissed the claims by saying: “Will he stay at Milan? That’s like asking me if I would [want to] be thin for the next 10 years. Seriously, he has a contract at Milan, he has done well and is playing for a coach in Gennaro Gattuso who likes him a lot. At the moment, Ricardo knows what he has in Milan, although it is true that in football, you can’t 100% say that you will stay a Milan player because this sport is like that. What I can say about Ricardo though is that he’s really happy to play for such an important club as the Rossoneri.”

Fabio Borini to join AC Milan on a permanent basis

Fabio Borini’s agent Roberto di Fanti has confirmed that his client will be joining AC Milan on a permanent basis from Sunderland on July 1. The Italy international joined the Rossoneri on a season-long loan from the Black Cats last summer and managed to impress under Vincenzo Montella and his successor Gennaro Gattuso whilst playing in different positions.

As a result of his progress, the Italian has now earned himself a permanent deal with the Rossoneri, which would last until the summer of 2021, Di Fanti said: “Yes, from the first of July he will be a player owned by the Rossoneri club until 2021. I would say Borini has had a positive season, given that there were low expectations when he arrived. He has proven to be worthy of Milan. Fabio is an exemplary professional and never seeks controversy, despite being played in several different roles across the pitch. He has worked very hard to be an important player for the club.” Continue reading Fabio Borini to join AC Milan on a permanent basis

Pressure increases on Inzaghi

Pressure has increased on AC Milan manager Filippo Inzaghi in the last few weeks after his team’s winless run stretched to 3 matches after a 1-1 draw with Cesena. The club started the new season with a lot of positivity after winning the opening two matches. This even sparked suggestions of a title bid, but that soon went away after a 1-0 defeat against Juventus. They followed this match with a 2-2 draw with Empoli. Now, this 1-1 draw with Cesena has threatened not only to take the club out of the title contention, but also the race to finish in the top three.

Inzaghi was disappointed man after the match, as he felt that his team should have taken all three points for the performance and hard work they put in. As a result of this defeat, Milan are now level on points with local rivals Inter Milan with eight points on the board. Cesena managed to take the lead after just 10 minutes following a mistake from Christian Abbiati. For long periods of the match, Milan were searching for the elusive victory after Rami had equalised moments later. It did not come and Milan have now taken just two points from a possible nine in the last few weeks.

“Unfortunately we had the game in control and created a lot in the first half, but when you work so hard and don’t score in this heat you will pay eventually. We played very well in the first half, then got stretched out and it was tough to win after going down to 10 men. We probably deserved to score a second. I can’t complain about the team’s performance and their goalkeeper made some crucial saves, but we started to run out of steam when we didn’t make all that pressure count,” said Inzaghi.

Ac Milan looking to use Torres

AC Milan recently signed Fernando Torres on a two-year loan deal from Chelsea. The striker will become a free agent after two years since he has the same time frame left on his contract with the Premier league outfit. It is highly expected that Torres will sign for Milan on a permanent basis after the end of the loan spell. The 30-year-old has just brought an end to face difficult spell at Chelsea where he struggled for form consistently since 2011. Prior to the move to West London, Torres was one of the most feared strikers in world football.

However, a return of just over 20 goals in almost 100 league matches for Chelsea shows the kind of form that he experienced at Stamford Bridge. Jose Mourinho, who has been saying throughout the summer transfer window that he saw Torres as part of the plans, says that he would have preferred to see the striker at Inter Milan rather than AC Milan. Mourinho has a special relationship with Inter after having won several titles including the Champions League during his two years at the club. Inter were thought to be in the race to sign the 30-year-old a few weeks ago, but there was no concrete offer on the table like that of Milan.

“I’m an Interista and I would have preferred if he’d gone to Inter. However, I hope that he does equally well at Milan. What I can say about Fernando is that as a person and a professional, there is nothing to doubt about him. He’s a fantastic boy and a great professional. However, he needed a change of scenery,” said the Chelsea manager, who finally appears to have signed a good striker in the form of Diego Costa. The Spaniard has made a great start to his Chelsea career with three goals.

Mexes More Focused On Season

The AC Milan defender Philippe Mexes is not that much worried about the poor performance of his team in the pre season games. He reckons that things will start falling in place for the Rossoneri once the main season starts.

Milan, after having a horror of a last season, is looking for revival this summer under a new manager, but, the kind of football that they have played against the English club Manchester City and the Greek club Olympiakos recently; it seems they have a lot of work to do before they go into the league matches.

City has a fantastic squad and they have emerged as one of the best teams in the world in the last few years. So, defeat against them can be understandable, but, the defeat against Olympiakos would have left the Milan fans concerned.

Mexes didn’t appear to be even slightly concerned though while talking to the reporters in the evening yesterday.

The veteran centre back said, “Look, the results have not been the greatest and we are disappointed about it, but, I would still say that the team is moving forward. The boys have been working their hardest in the training sessions and everyone is willing to do well.”

“I don’t think it would be right to put the responsibility of our pre season failures on the new manager. He hasn’t spent enough time with us to be expected to make a difference.”

“You are never comfortable with the defeats especially when you are playing for a team like Milan, but, what’s important is to understand which areas you need to improve in and we totally understand that.”

Milan’s first match in the upcoming Serie A is against Lazio. That’s a home game for them.
