AC Milan chief says the club are following the footprint of Liverpool

AC Milan chief executive Ivan Gazidis has said that the Rossoneri are looking to follow the footprint of Premier League side Liverpool in the quest to compete for trophies. Jurgen Klopp’s side ended a seven-year wait for a trophy with the Champions League title last season and they have since lifted the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA World Cup.


The Reds are currently the overwhelming favourites to win a maiden Premier League title with a staggering 22-point gap at the top of the table and that has certainly caught the attention of the global football audience. Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Gazidis gave the example of the Merseyside outfit, who were far off from competing for trophies over the past decade.

Napoli chief dismisses Zlatan Ibrahimovic approach amid AC Milan link

Napoli owner Aurelio de Laurentiis has dismissed the prospect of a mid-season deal for Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swede is expected to be available on a free transfer after his contract expires with LA Galaxy this month and he has been widely fancied to return to the Serie A before stepping down from the game.


AC Milan and Napoli have been identified as the prime candidates to land his signature but Laurentiis has now ruled out a move for the former Manchester United star. It took new AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli just one match to identify the areas that need improvement within the team. After being appointed as the head coach of the struggling outfit,Pioli was able to get only a 2-2 draw in his first match.

AC Milan Boss Refuses to Quit amidst Poor Form

Marco Giampaolo has been subjected to intense pressure at AC Milan after overseeing the club’s worst beginning to a new campaign in eight decades. However, the 52-year-old has refused to quit from his role claiming that he still is very confident about overcoming the poor start. AC Milan have suffered a defeat in four out of the six league matches already.Giampaolo was the replacement for Gennaro Gattuso, who was relieved of his role only in June. Milan fell to a 3-1 loss against Fiorentina during the weekend and this was the third successive defeat for the team.

This has increased speculation that Milan are preparing for a managerial change so much so that Arsene Wenger that has been linked with the job. Wenger has been out of the dugout for quite a while since leaving his post as the Arsenal boss, but it is believed that will be ready to take up the challenge. However, the ex-Sampdoria boss remains adamant that he will not quit and that he can overturn the fortunes of the team. It is highly unlikely that Milan will offer any more time especially if the team suffer a defeat against Genoa this weekend.

Former AC Milan CEO Marco Fassone has revealed that the club had made contact with Cristiano Ronaldo regarding a move to the Rossoneri last summer. The Portugal international parted ways with Real Madrid after nine seasons last year and he has since joined Juventus, where he has been a success with 28 goals during his debut campaign.

Speaking to Sport italia, Fassone revealed that the Rossoneri had sought to make a potential move for Ronaldo last summer and the player himself was open to the idea of joining the club. However, he added that the move never materialized with a change in ownership meaning that there was an overhaul at the hierarchical level of the club.

“The president wanted Cristiano Ronaldo, but the figures told us this was inadvisable,” Fassone told Sportitalia. “Ronaldo was open to evaluating the opportunity, as Milan are a famous club and there was enthusiasm around us. Giampaolo Happy to Get First Win As Milan Manager

AC Milan were able to get the first win of the campaign after beating Brescia 1-0 on Saturday. This victory provided huge relief for manager Marco Giampaolo, who has been brought in as the replacement for Gennaro Gattuso. The 52-year-old has a contract with Milan until 2021 and he has largely been able to achieve success with Sampdoria in recent times. However, the start to his Milan career has not been so great with the club losing 1-0 against Udinese in the first game of the season. A major shock from the game was the inability to get even a single shot on target throughout the 90 minutes.

However, Hakan Calhanoglu was able to come up with the breakthrough after just 12 minutes into the game againstBrescia. This early goal was very decisive in a game that did not have too many opportunities for both teams. After the match,Giampaolo admitted that the team was still a work in progress. A major surprise for fans and pundits was the absence of Krzysztof Piatek from the starting lineup. The 24-year-old was dropped in favour of Andre Silva as there were a couple of changes to the team that lost against Udinese. Marouane Fellaini confirms he has spoken with AC Milan

Belgium international Marouane Fellaini has acknowledged that he was in contact with AC Milan regarding a potential move in the summer of 2018. The midfielder had been heavily linked with the Rossoneri following the World Cup last year, but he instead decided to commit his future to Manchester United on a two-year deal.
