AC Milan president pleased with club’s progress under Gennaro Gattuso

AC Milan president Paolo Scaroni has been pleased with the club’s development under the guidance of manager Gennaro Gattuso. The Rossoneri started the season in a relatively slow fashion with numerous stalemates but they have found their feet thereafter to propel into the Champions League positions.

At present, the Rossoneri are clinging onto the final Champions League qualification spot in fourth and speaking to reporters, Scaroni is impressed with the uptrend of fortunes around the club. He added that he has been pleased with the recruitment policy with both Lucas Paqueta and Krzysztof Piatek hitting the ground running since their winter arrivals.

He said: “Piatek has scored many goals in Genoa, Krakow and Milan. I’m happy with the atmosphere that has been created, both for Piatek and Paqueta, but also for everyone else. We have become a team, and that’s thanks to Gattuso first and foremost. The team moves in unison. Gattuso is Gattuso. The character he had as a player, he has as a Coach. He has the players on his side and we owe him a lot. The season is full of pitfalls, just think of the injuries. Slowly we are moving in the right direction.”

Milan have been holding onto the fourth position since the winter break and they recently secured a 1-1 draw against AS Roma to preserve the same. Nonetheless, they have plenty of competition behind them with Roma, Lazio and Atalanta trailing with just the sole point and they can’t afford any slip-ups during the forthcoming round of matches.

The Rossoneri are scheduled to face Cagliari at the San Siro over the weekend and they will be expecting the maximum points, given Piatek has shone upfront since his January move. The Poland international has scored three times in the past two starts for the club.
