Vincenzo Montella Happy with Point against Inter Milan

AC Milan suffered a major setback in the race for the Italian Serie A top three finish after only managing a draw with rivals Inter Milan in the latest Milan derby.

A 2-2 draw with Inter means that Milan have managed just one win in the last three games. Their form over the last five games has also been mediocre with only two wins. Inter, who were the home team, took the lead through AntonioCandreva in the 36th minute. Mauro Icardi doubled the advantage just eight minutes later. Just when it seemed that Inter would be able to claim an important win in the race for the top three places, Milan produced an incredible comeback in the final six minutes.

AlessioRomagnoli managed to come up with a goal in the 83rd minute. This led to a lot of hope amongst the away team that they would be able to claim at least a point. After having played a couple of minutes of injury time, Milan came up with a highly unlikely goal with virtually the last kick of the game.

Cristian Zapata scored from a brilliant volley to give Milan a point from the game. Given the circumstances of the match, it was not surprising that manager Vincenzo Montella accepted that a point was a fair result.

The result leaves the club three points behind Lazio in the fourth spot.“It’s really exciting. We managed to come back from two goals down and we did it in the second half.We did something almost unbelievable. It was really a great emotion. I think it was a great game to watch for our fans. I’m happy with this result. We played really well in the first 30 minutes, although we should have been more patient and clinical. We conceded an easy goal,” said Montella.
