Roberto De Andrade made the confirmation yesterday that his club is ready

Roberto De Andrade made the confirmation yesterday that his club is ready to let go of Alexandre Pato.

According to De Andrade, there have been no enquiries for Pato so far, but, if somebody shows the interest in the striker and comes with an offer, it would be entertained.

Corinthians is the parent club of Pato, but, the Brazil international has not been playing for them for the last 18 months.

He was placed on loan to Sao Paulo in February last year and he’s been there ever since.

Talking about him, Andrade, who is the chairman of the Corinthians, said, “We are open to the negotiations as far as Pato is concerned. There’s been nothing on the table yet, but, we believe this is a great time for us to put him on sale because his recent form has been top class.”

There was a report published in an English newspaper that the Black Cats as well as West Ham United were planning to bid for Pato.

These two teams are in need of a quality striker at the moment and with not much time left for the transfer window to shut down, they would like to go for Pato sooner rather than later if that’s their plan.

Pato, who was bought by a club like AC Milan when he was just 18-year old, had a tough couple of seasons in ’13 and ’14, but, this season in Brazilian top tier, he has been able to find his old touch.

In his 18 appearances in Brasileiro Serie A 2015, Pato has smashed 8 goals as a result of which Sao Paulo is in top 5 in the standings at the moment.

Sao Paulo has got 35 points in 22 games. Leading the table is Corinthians.
